With the playoffs underway, it shouldn't be a shocker to learn that this has been a helter-skelter week in the power rankings. There's a new number one at the head of the rankings as well as a new caboose.
Welcome
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Trinity Christian last week (their 8th in a row). Everything went its way against Grapevine Faith Christian as it secured a 41 - 0 win. Trinity Christian especially relied on senior Qualan Jones, who earned two touchdowns and 139 yards rushing the ball, and sophomore Shedeur Sanders, who threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns. Thanks to its success, Trinity Christian cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 23rd spot.
Can't Touch This
Aledo got a 62 - 28 win over Lovejoy last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Jase McClellan. McClellan rushed for 299 yards and four touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out McClellan as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Allen and Rockwall, 3rd and 11th in the power rankings, respectively. Allen finished its game with a 52 - 40 win. Hopefully the victory is satisfying enough on its own since it actually slipped one place in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Katy (7th in the power rankings) and North Shore (1st). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, we'll see how far they can run the score up this week.
