A major shakeup has taken place among the Top 3 teams in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.
Last week's No. 3 team, St. Thomas Aquinas, was stunned by Broward County rival St. Thomas Aquinas and drops out of the rankings.
Allen, previously ranked No. 2, slides to No. 3 to make room for the nation's new No. 2, fellow Dallas-area school DeSoto.
In a matchup with defending Class 5A-II runner up Cedar Hill, DeSoto led at one point 41-7 and eventually won 41-20. Desmon White was superb in leading the offense and the starting defensive unit only gave up one touchdown.
New to the rankings this week is St. Edward. The 2010 Division I state champion looks poised for another deep playoff run following a 48-7 blowout of Elder.
After defeating Bergen Catholic, Bishop Gorman returns to the rankings as well.
