The
Carmel (Ind.) girls swimming team continues to build on its national-leading consecutive state championship win streak, but a pair of boys swimming teams continue to keep pace with the Greyhounds.
Carmel has won 39 straight girls swimming state championships, closing in on the national record of 45 in a row by the
Jackson Prep (Jackson, Miss.) swim team from 1974 to 2018. Led by MaxPreps 2024-25 Female Athlete of the Year Alex Shackell, a two-time medal-winning Olympian, Carmel tallied 448 points at the state meet last year for the fourth-highest total in state history.
However, the Greyhounds have been unable to shake a pair of boys swim teams.
Bolles (Jacksonville, Fla.) won its 37th straight boys swimming state championship in the fall while
St. Xavier (Louisville, Ky.) did the same during the winter.

The
Mount Anthony (Bennington, Vt.) wrestling team is just one state championship behind after winning its 36th straight state championship last year.
Two programs with win streaks longer than 10 in a row came to an end last year.
Punahou (Honolulu, Hawaii) had its 11 straight state titles in girls cross country come to an end after finishing second to
Radford (Honolulu) last fall. Likewise,
Summit (Bend, Ore.) had its streak of 15 straight girls cross country state championships come to an end after finishing second to
Crater (Central Point).
All other programs with over 10 state championship added to their totals last year and one joined the list.
Alcoa (Tenn.) won its 10th straight football state title.
State association websites provided the information for the list.
