Video: Xcellent 25 Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard - Oct. 24While no new teams enter this week's Xcellent 25 National High School Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard, there was still some movement among the top 15 teams.
Mater Dei and DeSoto flip spots this week, as the Monarchs move up to No. 3 after erasing a 21-12 fourth-quarter deficit on the road against St. John Bosco. Mater Dei scored the final 14 points to beat the Braves for the first time since 2010 with a 26-21 victory.
Allen moves up four spots to No. 6 after winning its eighth-consecutive game by double digits and Grayson and Mountain Pointe both move up one spot after Roswell went from No. 6 to No. 9 after barely beating a 4-4 Etowah (Woodstock, Ga.) team this past weekend.
St. John Bosco dropped five spots in this week's rankings to No. 12 and even though the Braves have two losses, they have come against No. 1 Bishop Gorman and No. 3 Mater Dei.
Twenty-four of the top 25 teams were in action this past weekend and the only team to lose was St. John Bosco.

1. (1 last week) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 9-0Bishop Gorman won its 48th-consecutive game with a dominant 71-0 shutout victory against Desert Oasis (Las Vegas). The Gaels haven't lost to an in-state opponent since 2008 and if they continue that streak they will have a good chance to finish the season as the No. 1 team in the country. Against four Nevada opponents they have outscored them 240-13, and three of them have been shutouts.
Next game: Thursday vs. Durango (Las Vegas)
2. (2) IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), 7-0IMG Academy found itself trailing for the first time at halftime this season but never panicked and outscored a very talented Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville, Fla.) team 28-14 in the second half to walk away with a 34-21 win. Four-star quarterback
Kellen Mond has put his name in the race for National Player of the Year after he had another big-time game with four more scores, one passing and three rushing. His 11 rushing touchdowns are five shy of tying Bo Scarbrough's record set back in 2013 in IMG's first season of high school football. Four-star Georgia commit
Robert Beal Jr. continues to show why he is one of the best players in the country. Usually it's by sacking quarterbacks, but this time he got the crucial pick-six that gave IMG a 21-7 lead, and the Ascenders never looked back.
Next game: Friday at Long Beach Poly (Long Beach)
3. (4) Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), 8-0Detractors said Mater Dei hasn't played anyone tough all year. The Monarchs proved the doubters wrong with a 26-21 win against national power St. John Bosco. They snapped a six-game losing streak to the Braves and also snapped Bosco's 23-game Trinity League winning streak after outscoring the Braves 14-0 in the fourth quarter. It was a big win for the Monarchs because they proved they can win even if 4-star sophomore quarterback
JT Daniels doesn't put up monster numbers. He finished 19-for-29 for 129 yards and one touchdown but the defense stepped up and 4-star wide receiver
Amon-Ra St. Brown sparked the comeback with a 75-yard punt return touchdown in the third quarter. The biggest play of the game was when
Jalen Cole picked off Re-al Mitchell in the fourth quarter and that later resulted in
Shakobe Harper's game-winning rushing touchdown with just over seven minutes left. Mater Dei now controls its own destiny in the Trinity League and there is a good chance these two teams could meet again in the Pac-5 Division playoffs.
Next game: Friday vs. Servite (Anaheim, Calif.)
4. (3) DeSoto (Texas), 8-02017 TCU commit
Shawn Robinson continues to impress in 2016 and he has emerged as one of the favorites to capture National Player of the Year honors. In the Eagles' 41-17 win against a very good Duncanville (Texas) team, the 4-star senior quarterback threw for nearly 300 yards and finished the night with four touchdowns, two passing and two rushing. So far this season Robinson has 1,751 yards passing and 17 touchdowns and he also leads the Eagles in rushing with 547 yards and nine more scores. The Eagles have had a ton of talented teams over the last decade, including players like Von Miller, Cyrus Gray and Desmon White, but this year's team might be the most talented in school history and there is a good chance they can do something they have never done - win a state title.
Next game: Friday vs. Nimitz (Irving, Texas)
5. (5) DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.), 9-0On senior night, the Stags did something they haven't all season - shut out an opponent. They blanked Archbishop Carroll (Washington, D.C.) 42-0 and even though it was their first shutout of the season they have had one of the most dominant defenses in the country this year. In seven of nine games they have held the opposition to 13 points or less and they are also playing great football on the offensive side of things too, as they are averaging 40.5 points per game. The Stags enter their final regular season game as winners of 14 in a row but they get a bye first before they face Good Counsel in two weeks.
Next game: Nov. 4 at Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.)
6. (10) Allen (Texas), 8-0The Eagles continue to roll in 2016, as they have won their first eight games of the season by at least 18 points. This time it was a 59-7 win against McKinney (Texas) and so far in 2016 the Eagles have now outscored the opposition 381-102 in Terry Gambill's first season as head coach. Allen has been playing that old-school type of football by running the ball effectively and playing smashmouth defense. This past Thursday,
Brock Sturges and
Juwan Robinson combined for five rushing touchdowns and the defense limited McKinney to 180 total yards and only eight first downs. If Allen beats Plano East (Texas) this week the Eagles will clinch at least a share of the 6A Region 1 District 6 title. The Eagles head into Friday night's game winners of 39 consecutive district games and the last time the Eagles didn't claim at least a share of the district title was back in 2005.
Next game: Friday at Plano East (Texas)
7. (8) Grayson (Loganville, Ga.), 7-1The Rams are the new No. 1 team from Georgia after winning their seventh-consecutive game. They earned their third shutout win within the last four weeks after beating Newton (Covington, Ga.) 34-0. The defense held Newton to 63 total yards and only five first downs. Grayson has been playing its best football as of late, as over the last five games the Rams have outscored the opposition 240-12. They have a big-time test coming up this week against Alabama power Hoover, a team that has only one loss and came to No. 6 Allen to begin the season. Hoover is the only new bubble team in this week's rankings.
Next game: Friday at Hoover (Ala.)
8. (9) Mountain Pointe (Phoenix), 9-0It was another week and another impressive defensive performance for Mountain Pointe. The Pride recorded their third shutout victory of the season with a 38-0 win against Corona del Sol (Tempe, Ariz.). They limited the Aztecs to 7 yards passing and held them to under 100 total yards for the game. The defense and special teams combined for three scores and
Xaiver Cota was the star, as he finished the night with one interception and blocked a punt, scooped it up and returned it for a score. If Mountain Pointe beats Gilbert in its regular-season finale, it will be the seventh-straight season the Pride have won at least 10 games.
Next game: Friday at Gilbert (Ariz.)
9. (6) Roswell (Ga.), 8-0Roswell had a bit of a scare against Etowah (Woodstock, Ga.) but
Sheldon Evans scored the game-winning touchdown with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter to escape with a 17-14 win. The Hornets did what they do best and depended on their defense to seal the deal, as
Sam Diroberto got his second interception of the night on Etowah's final drive.
Next game: Friday vs. Woodstock (Ga.)
10. (11) St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 5-2St. Thomas Aquinas earned its second-consecutive win after a heartbreaking triple overtime loss to No. 1 Bishop Gorman just over three weeks ago. The Raiders dominated Boyd Anderson (Lauderdale Lake, Fla.) in a 42-7 victory and 2017 Florida commit
Jake Allen was spreading the wealth early, as he had three touchdown passes to three different receivers. On defense, they are loaded with playmakers and they have two of the best junior defensive backs in the country in 4-star cornerbacks
Asante Samuel and
Al Blades Jr.
Next game: Friday vs. Blanche Ely (Pompano Beach, Fla.)
11. (12) American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.), 8-0Patrick Surtain's team continues to impress in 2016, as it improved to 8-0 after a 44-21 win against Jackson (Miami). Jackson made things interesting in the third quarter when it scored a touchdown to make it a one-score game but American Heritage responded with 20 unanswered points to cruise to a three-score win. The Patriots control their own destiny to capture the District 16-5A title, and if they beat Hallandale this week, they will finish district play a perfect 5-0 and win it outright.
Next game: Friday at Hallandale (Fla.)
12. (7) St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), 6-2St. John Bosco was one quarter away from moving up in this week's rankings but after getting outscored 14-0 in the fourth quarter to Mater Dei, the Braves suffered a 26-21 loss and dropped five spots this week. It was the second loss of the season for the Braves, but they have come against the No. 1 and No. 3 teams in the country. St. John Bosco showed it has one of the best defenses in the country by limiting Mater Dei to a season-low 26 points and holding 4-star sophomore quarterback J.T. Daniels to less than 150 yards passing and only one touchdown. If
Re-al Mitchell and the offense can limit the turnovers they are going to be a tough team to beat down the road and especially in the Pac-5 playoffs.
Next game: Thursday vs. JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.)
13. (13) Colerain (Cincinnati), 9-0Colerain recorded its second-consecutive shutout and third of the season with a 31-0 win over Lakota West (West Chester, Ohio). The Cardinals have now reeled off 58 consecutive league wins and after Friday night's win they have now won 17 straight Greater Miami Conference League titles. Senior running back
Monalo Caldwell continues to impress, as he rushed for nearly 100 yards and two scores, and so far this year the bruising back has found the end zone 13 times.
Next game: Friday vs. Oak Hills (Cincinnati)
14. (16) Centennial (Corona, Calif.), 7-1The main reason why Corona Centennial moves up a couple spots this week isn't because the Huskies keep scoring 60-plus points, but because IMG Academy continues to beat very good teams it helps their resume. Centennial was 12 seconds away from beating the No. 2 team in the country and they are the only team to keep it a one-score contest against IMG. If the Huskies run through the Pac-5 playoffs impressively they are going to have a chance to move up the rankings and secure a spot in the top five. This week they cruised to a 64-14 win against Corona and senior running back
Miles Reed eclipsed the century mark for the seventh time this season and so far this year he has rushed for 1,408 yards and 23 touchdowns.
Next game: Friday at Norco (Calif.)
15. (14) Saguaro (Scottsdale, Ariz.), 9-0Saguaro won 63-0 for the second-consecutive time, as the Sabercats recorded their third shutout win of the season by knocking off Shadow Mountain (Phoenix). They have now won 20 games in a row dating back to last year and there is a good chance they will do something they never have done - win four consecutive state championships. Saguaro's senior running back
Stone Matthews has been one of the best in the country, as he rushed for 239 yards and three scores this past weekend. Through nine games he has 1,380 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns.
Next game: Friday at Cactus Shadows (Cave Creek, Ariz.)
16. (15) Cass Tech (Detroit), 9-0With Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh watching, Detroit power Cass Tech knocked off King (Detroit) 41-20 to win the Detroit Public School League title for the third time in four years. The No. 1 wide receiver in the Class of 2017
Donovan Peoples-Jones got things started early with a 54-yard touchdown reception three minutes into the game and Cass Tech went into halftime leading 28-0. This is one of the most talented teams Cass Tech has ever had but the squad is focused on winning its third state championship in school history and first since 2012.
Next game: Saturday vs. Fordson (Dearborn, Mich.) in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs
17. (17) McGill-Toolen (Mobile, Ala.), 9-0McGill-Toolen won its 18th-consecutive game with a dominant 43-7 win against Theodore (Ala.). The Yellowjackets started out slow in the first half, leading 14-7 at halftime, but outscored the Bobcats 29-0 in the second half. Senior quarterback
Bubba Thompson, a 2017 Auburn baseball commit, finished the night with nearly 300 yards passing and five touchdowns. 2017 USC commit
Marlon Williams had another big-time game hauling in eight receptions for 156 yards and three scores.
Next game: Friday vs. Fairhope (Ala.)
18. (18) Mission Viejo (Calif.), 9-0Mission Viejo won its 37th-consecutive game, currently the sixth-longest active winning streak among 11-man football teams, with a dominant 68-0 win over Trabuco Hills (Mission Viejo, Calif.). Senior quarterback

Next game: Friday vs. Westmoore (Oklahoma City)
24.
