The high school football season in Wyoming came to a close over the weekend.
Cody was among the victors, beating
Jackson Hole 41-24 in the Class 3A state championship game at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. That victory helped propel the Broncs to the No. 1 ranking in the final Wyoming MaxPreps Top 25.
Cody captured its second straight Class 3A crown, third in the last five years and seventh state title all-time. Over the past two seasons, the Broncs are 21-1 and will enter the 2022 campaign riding a 17-game win streak.
In the state championship victory, Cody put things away with pick-sixes on three consecutive Jackson Hole possessions.
Despite faltering in the 3A title game, Jackson Hole (9-3), which also fell to Cody during the regular season, claimed the No. 2 spot in the final rankings.
Class 4A state champion Sheridan checks in at No. 5 in the final rankings. The Broncs have won five of the last seven state crowns in 4A and seven in the 2000s. Going all the way back to 1921, Sheridan leads the state with 28 titles.
