The Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Rancho Solano Prep Mustangs proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Coyotes by a score of 71-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Rancho Solano Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jake Miller led the charge by scoring 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. Matthew Quinlan was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Arizona Lutheran Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Noah Draper. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. Draper has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Luis Guerrero, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Arizona Lutheran Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rancho Solano Prep only racked up five assists.
Rancho Solano Prep's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rancho Solano Prep will face off against Scottsdale Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 257th, while Rancho Solano Prep is ranked 63rd). As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, Arizona Lutheran Academy and NFL Yet Academy will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
