Football Recap: Mater Academy East Las Vegas Piles Up the Points Against Eldorado

Mater Academy East Las Vegas lost to Eldorado back in October of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Knights simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Firehawks 40-8. Considering the Knights have won five games by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

A big part of Mater Academy East Las Vegas' win came down to the chemistry between James Monaghan IV and his top target Majik McMillion. Monaghan IV threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes while McMillion picked up 48 receiving yards and one score. Monaghan IV is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last five games he's played.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mater Academy East Las Vegas' defense and their seven sacks. Leading the way was Quenshawn 'Q' Tinner with two. He has become a key player for Mater Academy East Las Vegas: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one sack, but 2-3 otherwise.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.0 points over those games. As for Eldorado, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Coming up, Mater Academy East Las Vegas will square off against Sierra Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mountain Lions' defense has only allowed 12.5 points per game this season, so the Knights' offense will have their work cut out for them. Eldorado does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
