The Texas school district broke ground Tuesday on a $69 million football stadium that is believed to be one of the most expensive high school sports facilities in the country.
Jennifer Lindgren of CBS DFW was on site Monday and reported that the stadium is expected to to seat 12,000 fans and will be ready next fall.
In addition to football, the stadium will host soccer games, band competitions for the district's three high schools –
Boyd,
McKinney and
McKinney North.
There is also event and meeting space. The facility is the result of a $220 million bond that was passed in May with nearly $70 million of that going toward the new stadium. Additional money will go toward McKinney's current stadium, which will be refurbished and remain in use.

opened a $60 million stadium in 2012 that can accommodate more than 20,000 fans.
