Gary Joseph showed why he's one of the best coaches in high school football as Katy (Texas) trailed 21-7 at halftime against North Shore (Houston) but made some key adjustments and outscored the defending state champs, and reigning MaxPreps National Champions, 17-0 in the second half.

The win helped the Tigers go from unranked to No. 12 in this week's Top 25 high school football rankings as Dutch Fork (Irmo, S.C.) transfer Ron Hoff rushed for 219 yards and a score and the defense dominated in the second half.

The only other new team to join this week's Power 25 High School Football Rankings presented by Powerade was Hoover (Ala.). The Buccaneers have posted two big wins in a row to start the season, beating defending 7A state champs Central (Phenix City) and Cocoa (Fla.).

Marietta (Ga.) moves up seven places to No. 10 after a 24-21 win over St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia). 2020 Tennessee commit Harrison Bailey found Michigan State pledge Ricky White in the final seconds to pull off the comeback win.

The loss drops St. Joseph's Prep 10 spots to No. 18 and things don't get easier this week when the Hawks host No. 4 St. John's (Washington, D.C.).

Northwestern (Miami) was the other big mover this week going from 25 to 15 after posting its second straight shutout to begin the season. The Bulls beat a very good Carol City (Fla.) team 10-0 to improve to 2-0. The loss dropped the Chiefs from 16 to 25.

St. Louis (Honolulu) jumped up a couple spots to No. 8 after a 31-19 win over Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas). Jayden de Laura threw for nearly 300 yards and a couple scores leading the Crusaders to their 29th consecutive win.

No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) and No. 2 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) both rolled again this week and look to be on a collision course when they play on Sep. 14.

The Monarchs beat Villa Park (Calif.) 63-7 and the Panthers shutout Simeon (Chicago) 55-0.
