Video: Xcellent 25 girls volleyball rankings presented by the Army National Guard
Find out who's on the move this week.
Blue Valley West nudged ahead of last week's No. 1 Oak Ridge as this week's top team in MaxPreps Xcellent 25 Volleyball Rankings presented by the U.S. Army National Guard.
The Jaguars are 70-3 in sets this season and haven't lost a set since beating 31-6 Shawnee Heights (Shawnee, Kan.), 2-1 to win the Lawrence Tournament. They have blanked nine opponents since losing that set.
Prior that, they lost a set on Sept. 17 to 34-4 Newman (Kan.). The Jaguars' other set loss was against 30-4 Northwest (Olathe, Kan.) on Sept. 10.
In addition to the Lawrence and Manhattan tournament titles, Blue Valley West also won the Maize Invitational and the MoKan Tournament, which pits the best of Missouri and Kansas against one another.
Oak Ridge, winners of 98 out of 111 sets, didn't do anything wrong in falling to No. 2. It's just Blue Valley West has been more dominant and against arguably a more challenging schedule.
The War Eagles have continued to win, though they struggled recently with 34-6 The Woodlands (Tex.), needing to win two of the final three sets to take the match, 3-2. In a rematch last week, Oak Ridge blanked The Woodlands 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-22).
New to the Top 10 this week is 25-0 Cox Mill.
New to the Top 25 this week are 24-0 West Valley, George Washington and St. Joseph's Academy.
The biggest mover of the week was Novi jumping from No. 17 to No. 11.
