After losing in the NorCal Division I finals in 2014-15, the Timberwolves struggled somewhat last season but appear destined for a deep playoff run. Led by one of the top junior posts in the country, 6-10
Jordan Brown (26.7 points, 15.0 rebounds, 2.8 blocks per game), Woodcreek lost seven seniors off a 14-man roster from last season. Another key returner is
Tyrell Roberts, a 5-11 guard who was the second-leading scorer from last season (9.4 ppg).

3. Sheldon (Sacramento)Head coach: Joey Rollings
2015-16 record: 23-6
The Huskies finished No. 100 in the country last season, according to the MaxPreps Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. Rollings' teams constantly reload and this season should be no different, though they return one of the section's best in 5-10 senior guard
Elishja Duplechan (14.9 points, 4.5 rebounds per game). Sheldon returns eight players from last year's 22-man roster. Since 2009-10, the Huskies have won at least 21 games six of seven years, including a 29-6 campaign in 2011-12.

5. Modesto Christian (Modesto)
Head coach: Brice Fantazia
2015-16 record: 30-2
The Crusaders lost a ton from their banner 2015-16 team, including their top four scorers and head coach Richard Midgley. But under first-year head coach Fantazia, Modesto Christian should continue to thrive. The program has been one of the SJS's best for a couple of decades. Since 2004-05, the Crusaders have won at least 23 games every season, including 62 over the last two years. This year's team is led by 6-1 senior guard
Darian Greys, who averaged 7.3 points per game and 6-3 junior guard
Tyler Williams.
