Video: Top 2021 QB recruits on top 2020 teams Watch Steve Montoya break down five of nation's best.
If there's an elite high school football team, chances are a great quarterback is under center.
This applies to the 2020 season, as emphasized by MaxPreps host and analyst Steve Montoya on a recent CBS Sports HQ Show.
Five of the top nine teams in the MaxPreps preseason Top 25 boast major quarterback talent, including
J.J. McCarthy of No. 1
IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), who transferred this spring to the Florida power from Illinois.
McCarthy is the No. 14 player overall in the country in the 247Sports composite rankings and headed to Michigan. All five quarterbacks mentioned are committed to major college programs.
All five were invited to the finals of the Elite 11 Academy, touted as the "nation's premier quarterback competition."
The 22nd annual event is scheduled June 29 to July 1 in Nashville, Tenn. Previous participants include a Who's Who of current NFL standouts, including Deshaun Watson, Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger and Matthew Stafford.
Unlike previous years, the public will not be invited to the 2020 event due to COVID-19.
