6A Region 1 recap Nov. 7, 2012
South Panola extended the longest winning streak in 6A Region 1 this week by beating DeSoto Central, 42-21. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Southaven took down Horn Lake 29-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Rip Kirk and Darrell Henderson gave South Panola a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Kirk threw for 211 yards and four touchdowns, while Henderson ran for 195 yards. Teammate Tavian Bibbs added to the ground attack by rushing for 49 yards.
Malik Mayweather was the best wideout in the league this week as Olive Branch topped Tupelo. Mayweather tallied six receptions for 152 yards. Jamil Collins helped Olive Branch's passing attack out by catching two balls for 102 yards.
Samuel Craft provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Conquistadors bested the Golden Wave. He completed 10 passes for 139 yards and also ran for 109 yards.
Lance Pogue's team's Kirk and DeAndrea Harris have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Kirk has thrown for 1540 yards this season, while Harris, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 54 catches for 767 yards. Olive Branch's Craft leads the league in rushing yards with 926.
Craft of the Scott Samsel's team is only 74 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
The Conquistadors led 6A Region 1 in scoring this week after putting up 53 points on Tupelo. Craft caught one passes for 61 yards in the win.
