Freshman Player of the Year: Mariah WhalenWhalen, a 6-foot outside hitter for
Newman (Wausau, Wis.), has been named MaxPreps Freshman Volleyball Player of the Year. She led Newman to a 35-5-1 record and the D4 state title and was the only freshman named to the All-State Team.
Whalen
had a 6.1 kill average on 522 kills (1,204 attacks) and in 86 sets
added 66 aces, 69 blocks, 278 digs and 374 serve receptions.
In the state final, Whalen recorded 25 kills and six block assists – the second-best total in state history.

OH – Lexi Sun - Santa Fe Christian (Solana Beach, Calif.), 6-2In 68 sets, Sun posted 390 kills (5.7 average), 25 aces (103 service points), 52 blocks (42 solo) and had 164 digs. She missed part of Santa Fe's season as she was a member of Team USA in the inaugural FIVB Women's Under-23 World Championships in Mexico. Sun was named to the San Diego Union Tribune's All-Area Team.

OH - Kayla Lund - Flintridge Sacred Heart (La Canada-Flintridge, Calif.), 5-11Lund recorded 348 kills, 32 blocks and 82 digs as Sacred Heart went 26-5 and deep into the state playoffs.
OH - Brooke Botkin - Pearland (Texas), 6-1Botkin helped lead the Oilers to a 34-10 record with 430 kills on 972 attacks, 95 percent serving, 46 blocks, 271 digs and 629 serve receptions.
OH - Claire Sheehan - Cambridge-Isanti (Cambridge, Minn.), 6-0Sheehan led CIHS to a 22-8 record with 547 kills, 59 aces, 68 blocks, 399 digs and 334 serve receptions.
OH - Kaitlyn Lines - Gilbert (Ariz.), 5-11Lines recorded 411 kills, 21 blocks and 100 aces in 108 sets as Gilbert reached the state semifinals.
OH - Grace Loberg - Geneva (Ill.), 6-2Loberg earned unanimous Upstate Eight Conference River Division honors after topping 300 kills in helping lead the Vikings to the sectional title and a 29-10 record.
OH - Alyssa Zwolensky - Merritt Island (Fla.), 5-7Zwolensky led the Mustangs to the state quarterfinals where they lost to eventual 5A state champion Bishop Moore. Zwolensky totaled 355 kills, 181 digs and had 89 service aces in 73 sets.
OH - Gabby Gray - Baylor (Chattanooga, Tenn.), 6-0Gray helped the Tigers to a 41-8 record with 76 aces (458 serves), 587 kills, 48 blocks, 358 digs and 374 serve receptions. The Tigers finished as the state's 2A runner-up.
OH - Audrey Arand - St. Francis Borgia (Washington, Mo.), 5-11Arand played a key role in leading Borgia to its 10th state title (first since 2004) and a 30-4-1 record with 311 kills and 158 digs. She was named first team 3A all-state.
MB - Jena Otec - St. Pius X (Festus, Mo.), 6-0 Otec led St. Pius X's state 2A runner-up team to a 30-8 record as she had 328 kills, 69 aces, 73 blocks and was second on the team with 364 digs. Otec was a 2A all-state selection.
MB - Caroline Marsh - North Henderson (Hendersonville, N.C.), 5-10With Marsh up front, North Henderson reached the second round of the state playoffs. Marsh lead the team with 490 kills on 1,233 attacks, 93 percent on serves and had 113 blocks.
MB - Hannah Harris - Providence Christian (Dothan, Ala.), 5-11Harris had 450 kills (930 attacks), 143 aces (94 percent), 56 blocks and 235 digs as the team lost in the 2A state final and was 50-8 on the season.
MB - Hannah Towne - Rochester (Ind.), 5-10Towne was the top player on a 27-8 team as she produced 427 kills, 1,140 attacks, 39 aces, 116 blocks, 340 digs and 500 serve receptions.
S - Kirby Knapp - Menlo-Atherton (Atherton, Calif.), 5-6Knapp led Menlo-Atherton as she produced 1,028 assists and 22 aces (96 percent serving).
S - Natalie Robinson - Mercer Island (Wash.), 5-10

Robinson led Mercer Island to the state 3A title (23-2 record) with 926 assists, 65 aces and 90 percent serving.
S - Lindsey Ledyard, Cedar Park (Texas), 5-8 Named the Newcomer of the Year for District 25-4A, Ledyard led Cedar Park to a 38-3 record with 1,258 Assists, 280 digs, 23 aces and 27 blocks.
S - Emma Rogers - Flagstaff (Ariz.), 5-8Rogers led Flagstaff (40-6) to the state 3A title with 1,081 assists, 38 aces, 254 digs and 69 blocks (49 solo). She was honorable mention 3A all-state.
S - Madison Lilley - Blue Valley West (Stilwell, Kan.), 5-11Another standout setter making a quick impact, she led Blue Valley West to a 25-11 record with 790 assists, 25 aces, 45 blocks and found time for two kills per game.
L - Brady Gillum - College Station (Texas), 5-2Gillum led College Station to a 33-17 record with 52 aces, 647 digs and 644 serve receptions. She made the state tournament team and was also Defensive MVP for District 18-3A.
A-A - Sydney Hilley - Champlin Park (Champlin, Minn.), 5-11Hilley led Champlin Park to the section finals and a 24-7 season when she tallied 279 kills, 673 attacks, 54 aces, 30 blocks, 226 digs, 576 assists and 244 serve receptions. She was named honorable mention all-state.
