High school girls basketball rankings: DME Academy finishes No. 1 in final National Top 10

DME Academy (Daytona Beach, Fla.) captured its first Chipotle Nationals title Saturday beating Bullis (Potomac, Md.) 68-49 in the championship game.

The Florida program capped a weekend that saw it beat Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.) and The St. James Performance Academy (Springfield, Va.) behind strong performances from USC signee Sara Okeke, Indiana pledge GiGi Battle and recent Rutgers commit Chikae Desdunes.

Okeke, a first-year high school player from Spain, averaged 15.2 points and 6.5 rebounds for DME Academy (25-4). Battle averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per night while Desdunes chipped in 11.3 points, 4.2 assists and 3.4 rebounds. Junior Timani Harris, who came up big in the championship victory, tallied 11.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per night for the Daytona Beach school.
