Chardon (Ohio) assistant football coach Frank Hall is being hailed as a hero amid a tragedy, as he reportedly chased away the gunman that opened fire at the Chardon cafeteria, killing one and injuring four others.
According to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, witnesses reported seeing Hall, who is also a hall and cafeteria monitor at the suburban Cleveland high school, put his life on the line.
He reportedly charged at the gunman, who aimed at Hall. Hall refused to back down, chasing the gunman from the building where he was later apprehended,
according to the Washington Post.
Students reacted to Hall's actions on Twitter, where he is being hailed as a hero.
To those who know him well, Hall's actions were more unsurprising than heroic.
"It doesn't surprise me he put his body in front of other people's bodies and saved lives," Chardon assistant football coach Don Navatsyk told the Plain-Dealer.
