There were a number of upsets among the teams in the Xcellent 25, but the losses only resulted in seven new teams being added to this week's National Computer Football Regional Rankings.
The only change among the top teams occurred in the Midwest, where St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio) returned to the top spot after defeating Archbishop Moeller. Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) stayed at No. 2 while Archbishop Moeller slipped to No. 3. St. Edward moved all the way up from No. 6.
Three other losses by highly-ranked teams resulted in differing changes in the rankings. In the Northeast, No. 2 Paramus Catholic lost, but it did not drop since it's loss was to No. 1 St. Joseph Regional. In the South, previous No. 6 North Gwinnett (Suwanee, Ga.) fell out of the rankings after a loss to unranked Collins Hill. In the West, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) fell from No. 5 to No. 10 following a loss to Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.).
The regional rankings are based on the
MaxPreps computer rankings. Record and ranking are included for each team.
