It's one thing to attempt a hook-and-lateral at the end of the half. But it's another to throw in a reverse and option wrinkle, like the
Heber Springs (Ark.) Panthers pulled off on Friday night.
On the last play of the half, quarterback
Hunter Chandler completed a slant pass to
Dillon Moore, who pitched it to
Pierce Mitchum reversing the other direction.
Mitchum made a nice leaping catch of the wild pitch, then ran to the sideline. When a defender approached him, he pitched the ball beautifully to
Chandler Marquardt, who sprinted untouched into the end zone.
The touchdown covered 25 yards and Heber Springs (6-3) was on its way to a 40-13 victory.
It was truly one of the most inventive plays we've seen all season and tough to execute. The Panthers did so beautifully.
