The first week of
the Colorado high school football season kicks off Thursday with games statewide.
The Class 5A ranks highlight the opening week slate, with three-time defending state champion and preseason No. 1 Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village) facing a test, as it travels to seventh-ranked Ralston Valley (Arvada) to begin the season. Other top games in the big-school classification feature No. 4 Regis Jesuit (Aurora) at fifth-ranked Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch) and No. 14 Mullen (Denver) at No. 23 Columbine (Littleton).
