The week began with a major upset as previous No. 2 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) suffered their first home loss in over 20 years in a 86-81 loss to West Oaks Academy (Orlando, Fla.).
Tuesday night was a big night in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference as a pair of top 25 matchups saw No. 6 DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) take down No. 10 Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.) 62-60 and Gonzaga knock off No. 21 St. John's (Washington, D.C.) 86-67.
No. 10 Paul VI also picked up a quality win over No. 21 St. John's 61-57 on Thursday night.
Friday night was the night of the upset, as St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.) took down No. 2 Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah) in a 61-58 overtime thriller, Garfield (Seattle) knocked off No. 15 Eastside Catholic (Sammamish, Wash.) 83-73 and O'Fallon (Ill.) upended No. 19 Collinsville (Ill.) 55-41.
Gonzaga commit
Jalen Suggs went off for 42 points in a 92-73 win for No. 9 Minnehaha Academy (Minneapolis, Minn.) over previously unbeaten Caledonia (Minn.) on Friday night as well.
Saturday night, the upsets continued as Memphis East (Memphis) knocked off No. 3 Sunrise Christian Academy (Bel Aire, Kan.) 58-55 at the Dr. Pepper Classic.
Two big-time matchups go down in Maryland as No. 1 Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) defeated No. 11 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) 67-46 in the St. James Invitational championship game and No. 14 La Lumiere (La Porte, Ind.) took down St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.) 57-48 in an overtime thriller in the Bob Kirk Invitational title contest.
