With Columbus holding a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter, Sears intercepted a pass near midfield. Twenty-two seconds later, he hauled in his first touchdown catch of the game from senior quarterback
Kai Moore as the Explorers grabbed a 14-0 lead.
Six minutes later Moore found Sears for another touchdown, extending the lead to 20-0. Moore threw for over 400 yards in the game.

With Columbus up 23-15, Sears picked off Amina for a second time in the third quarter, putting a halt to a Gaels' drive.
After a missed Gaels field goal, the Explorers then capitalized when Moore threw a 28-yard touchdown to junior
Tony Brown III to go up 30-15 with 9:43 left in the fourth.

Sears then effectively ended the game by intercepting his third pass of the game with 6:28 to play.
Columbus survived a late push by Bishop Gorman as Amina hit seniors

Azavier McDaniel for touchdowns to cut the lead to 33-28 while recovering an onside kick in between.
But the Gaels couldn't come up with more magic as junior
Fernando Suarez-Solis hauled in an onside kick to seal the game.
The Explorers moved to 2-0 under head coach Dave Dunn after going 4-8 last season. This was the 127th win for Dunn in his 16th season as a high school head coach and his 10th at Columbus.
Sears has been a highlight machine through the first two games after catching a touchdown last week in the Explorers 45-7 season-opening win over
Southridge (Miami, Fla.).
Moore, a Northern Illinois commit, threw four touchdowns today and has seven on the season. The senior threw his first touchdown today to running back
Cecil Smith, a fellow Northern Illinois pledge.
