MaxPreps 2015-16 Michigan preseason high school boys basketball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. University of Detroit Jesuit
Head coach: Pat Donnelly
2014-15 record: 22-4

After reaching the state semifinals last season, the Cubs are well-stocked inside and out for another run. Michigan State commit Cassius Winston (6-0, Sr., G) will run things from the point guard position while twin towers Eke Ikechukwu (6-9, Jr., F/C) and Greg Eboigbodin (6-9, Jr., F/C) will make things difficult for opponents in the paint.

2. Western International (Detroit)
Head coach: Derrick McDowell
2014-15 record: 26-0

The Cowboys came out of nowhere last season to not only go 26-0 and capture Michigan's Class A state title, but finish ranked in the Top 25 nationally. All-stater Brailen Neely (5-8, Sr., G) is back after averaging a team-best 15.1 points per game as a junior and committed to Oakland last spring. Karim Murray (6-2, Sr., G) will join Neely in the backcourt. Don't be surprised if a transfer or two bolsters the roster.

3. Clarkston
Head coach: Dan Fife
2014-15 record: 24-1

The Wolves went unbeaten last season until falling to Winston and Detroit-Jesuit in the Class A state tournament. Fife, who has won over 600 games, may have his best player ever in Foster Loyer (6-0, So., G). Loyer was one of the most productive and successful freshmen in the country last year, averaging 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.

4. Beecher (Flint)
Head coach: Mike Williams
2014-15 record: 26-1

En route to the Class C state title a year ago, Beecher blasted every tournament opponent by 18 points or more. Several major contributors are back, including Levane Blake (6-7, Jr., F), Aquavius Burks (6-4, Sr., F), Malik Ellison (5-9, Jr., G) and Jordan Roland (5-9, Jr., G).

5. Dakota (Macomb)
Head coach: Paul Tocco
2014-15 record: 21-3

The Cougars took Clarkston to the wire in last year's Class A state tournament. Jermaine Jackson (5-9, Jr., G) – son of a former NBA player – was one of the catalysts for that team and should be one of the better guards in Michigan this season. Thomas Kithier (6-8, So., F/C), who is receiving some early attention from MAC schools, is another name to remember.
