DE LA SALLE 48, SERVITE 8 (Game Over): The rout comes to an end. De La Salle wins its third state championship in five seasons and celebrates with a slide in the mud. The Spartans complete the season with a 15-0 record while Servite ends the year at 14-1.

9:56 p.m.
DE LA SALLE 48, SERVITE 8 (5:53 left in the fourth quarter): The Friars avoid the shutout with a 4-yard run by Cody Pittman. Servite also connects for the two-point conversion, much to the delight of the Servite faithful, many of whom have continued to support the team despite the lopsided score and the persistent precipitation.

9:42 p.m.
DE LA SALLE 48, SERVITE 0 (9:54 left in the fourth quarter): The Spartans slowed down a bit in the second half. One drive ended inside the Servite 10-yard line and the Friars were able to drive inside the De La Salle 10 before turning it over on downs. The Spartans scored on a 1-yard run by Lucas Dunne, his fourth of the game and his 35th rushing touchdown of the season. He has 40 overall touchdowns, a De La Salle school record.

9:10 p.m.
DE LA SALLE 42, SERVITE 0 (11:42 left in the third quarter): The carnage continues. On the first play of the second half, Joe Te'o carries 67 yards on a reverse for a touchdown.

8:44 p.m.
DE LA SALLE 35, SERVITE 0 (Halftime): It's done...and this one is done. As usual, hidden behind De La Salle's dominant offensive numbers and precision attack is a defense that hasn't allowed Servite beyond its own 40. We'll have more numbers later.

Here are the disturbing numbers - Total yards: De La Salle 246, Servite 22. First downs: De La Salle 14, Servite 0. Dunne 18 carries, 144 yards, three touchdowns.

8:34 p.m.
DE LA SALLE 35, SERVITE 0 (2:41 left in second): Dunne yet again, another 4-yard TD run and a 2-point conversion, capping the first long, sustained drive of the night, 12 plays and 74 yards. I (Mitch Stephens) have covered De La Salle and all it's crazy streaks and lopsided scores since 1984. This, my friends, is the most shocking and impressive 21 minutes and 19 seconds I've ever seen the Spartans play. Its hard not to feel for the 4,000 or so Servite fans who are braving these elements and more so, experiencing this absolute whitewash.

8:17 p.m.
DE LA SALLE 27, SERVITE 0 (9:15 left in second): The downpour continues. Houston sneaks in for his second touchdown, this one from the 2, capping 56-yard drive. Dunne, who had 89 yards on eight carries in the first quarter, had runs of 11, 14 and 13 yards on the drive and capped things off with a 2-point conversion.

8:03 p.m.
DE LA SALLE 19, SERVITE 0 (3:39 left in first): What is going on here? We saw Folsom score three touchdowns in 25 seconds against nationally-ranked Serra. Now we got three touchdowns in 8:21 against No. 8 Servite. This time Houston sneaks in from 1, capping just an 18-yard drive after linebacker Michael Hutchings intercepts a Cody Pittman pass. In these conditions, it's gonna be hard to make up three touchdowns. Two-point conversion is short by Dunne.

7:51 p.m.
DE LA SALLE 13, SERVITE 0 (6:45 left in first): Easier still. This time the Spartans go 76 yards on just four plays, capped with a 37-yard TD burst up the middle by Dunne. Has De La Salle been practicing on a sloppy field or what. Or do Southern Californians just not do well in the rain. Long way to go, but nobody thought Northern California would take four of five. Two completions by Bart Houston for 39 yards keyed the drive. Extra point fails.

7:43 p.m.
DE LA SALLE 7, SERVITE 0 (9:32 left in first): Well, that was easy. De La Salle goes three plays and 28 yards for a touchdown, No. 32 for Lucas Dunne, who slips through a small hole on the right side for a 4-yard score. Dunne broke off a 16-yarder.

7:38 p.m.
DE LA SALLE VS. SERVITE (Game time). After a steady drizzle for two days and four previous games, the Home Depot field is extremely sloppy. De La Salle quarterback coach Mark Panella notes that at least it's in good enough shape for players to plant their feet. We'll see.

De La Salle wins the toss and defers.

Good call, after Servite goes three and out, Williams returns punt 450 yards to the Servite 28. 

6:38 P.M.
FOLSOM 48, SERRA 20 (final): The Gatorade is dumped on coach Richardson. It's a massive game of slip-and-slide at midfield by the Bulldogs. After a humbling start, Northern California leads the series 3-1. It marks the first time Northern California will win the series.

6:31 p.m.
FOLSOM 48, SERRA 20 (3:09 left): Who else? Graves again, this time again from the 1 on a run. He's accounted for six more touchdowns giving him 62 passing touchdowns and 23 rushing. What more can the kid do? Lost in his massive numbers, of course, is just how good Folsom is. The Bulldogs will have beat two Top-20 national teams the last two weeks of the season by three and right now four touchdowns. Coach Kris Richardson has done a fantastic job in all facets. This team blocks and tackles and accomplishes all the basics.

6:18 p.m.
FOLSOM 41, SERRA 20 (8:33 left): Folsom holds on downs. This one, unless a miracle occurs, is over. Interesting that this is the exact score as two weeks ago when Folsom knocked a similar undefeated team from Northern California - Grant. That team also had a Shaq on its team. (Twilight zone theme here). 

6:11 p.m.
FOLSOM 41, SERRA 20 (10:46 left in fourth): Folsom scores its third touchdown in 25 seconds - that's gotta be some sort of record - as Richards picks off a tipped pass and sprints 35 yards into the end zone. Wow. Extra point pass fails.

6:09 p.m.
FOLSOME 35, SERRA 20 (10:56 left in the fourth): This is starting to get out of hand. Dillon Wessing recovers a fumble on the kickoff and one play later, Graves connects with a wide open Tyler Trosin for a 27-yard touchdown pass.

6:03 p.m.
FOLSOM 28, SERRA 20 (11:11 left in fourth): Graves dives in from the 1 after a nine-yard run. A win for the Bulldogs and Graves is a SERIOUS National Player of the Year candidate. His numbers aren't great thus far - 9 of 28 for 167 yards and two scores - but he's also rushed for two touchdowns. The kid is really, really gritty.

6 p.m.
FOLSOM 21, SERRA 20 (end of the third): After the interception, Folsom drives 70 yards to the Serra 10 keyed by a 45-yard catch-and-run by Stanford-bound Richards. Graves rushes to the 10, first and goal. Quarter ends.

5:55 p.m.
FOLSOM 21, SERRA 20 (1:52 left in the third): Serra once again on the move but from the Folsom 18, Preston is intercepted in the end zone by Tanner Trosin. Farmer was open but Trosin's brother Tyler Trosin, an Oregon State recruit, made up ground and tipped the ball into the air and Tanner made a diving interception in the end zone. Great play.

5:45 p.m.
FOLSOM 21, SERRA 20 (7:37 left in the third): Game is suddenly played in the middle of this mosh pit. Serra seems in control, but made a key turnover on a fumble by Richard and Folsom's Richards recovered.

5:25 p.m.
HALFTIME STATS: Serra has more than twice the yards of Folsom, 262-124with Preson 9 of 12 for 186 yards and two touchdowns. Graves is 6-for-19 for 110 yards and two scores. Serra has 76 yards rushing to 14 for Folsom. Two of the state's best receivers are excelling: Farmer has 3 catches for 70 yards (Lee three catches for 66) and Trosin has three catches for 60 yards.

FOLSOM 21, SERRA 20 (Halftime):  Serra gets into field goal position in the final 50 seconds thanks to a 33-yard pass from Preston to Lonnie Turner, who makes a diving catch at the 8-yard line. However a 22-yard field goal attempt on the last play of the first half goes wide right.

5:02 p.m.
FOLSOM 21, SERRA 20 (0:56.2 left in second quarter):  Folsom rebounds thanks to a little trickery from Graves. Facing a sack at midfield, Graves tosses the ball behind his head in the general direction of one of his receivers, thus avoiding a 10-yard loss. On the next play, Graves completes 23-yard pass to Kori Babineaux. Another 17-yard pass from Graves to Marcus Hendricks sets up a 2-yard run by Graves for the touchdown.

4:52 p.m.
SERRA 20, FOLSOM 14 (3:17 left in second quarter):  Serra has taken control. Shaquille Richard scored the third straight touchdown for the Cavaliers on a 16-yard run over the left side. Preston sets up the touchdown with a 26-yard completion to Marqise Lee.

4:28 p.m.
FOLSOM 14, SERRA 14 (11:50 left in second quarter):  It's officially a ball game. Conner Preston found All-American receiver George Farmer over the middle with a 66-yard strike and Farmer took it the distance for the tying score on the first play of the second quarter.

4:16 p.m.
FOLSOM 14, SERRA 7 (1:30 left in first quarter):  The Folsom victory celebration has been put on hold. Serra's Raymond Ford intercepted a Graves pass and returned it to the Folsom 44. After four runs, including a 15-yard gain by Shaquille Richard, Serra quarterback Conner Preston hit Marqise Lee with a slant pass at the 15. Lee did the rest, shaking off three defenders to score the 25-yard touchdown.

4:00 p.m.
FOLSOM 14, SERRA 0 (8:14 left in first quarter):  Folsom's offense strikes again. Following a Serra punt, Folsom's Graves carries for three yards and then throws 42 yards to a wide open Trosin over the middle for the touchdown.

3:50 p.m.
FOLSOM 7, SERRA 0 (10:45 left in first quarter):  Folsom needs just two plays to score the first touchdown of the game. After a 76-yard kickoff return by Tyler Trosin, Folsom began its first series on the Serra 14. After a penalty and a short run, Dano Graves threw a slant pass to Trosin for the 8-yard touchdown.

3:43 p.m.
SERRA 0, FOLSOM 0 (Beginning of game):  The start of the Folsom-Serra game has been delayed 15 minutes due to an equipment change. Serra reported to the field with 3/4 inch spikes and per CIF rules was required to switch to half-inch spikes.

2:45 p.m.
ESCALON 30, MADISON 14 (Final):  Escalon becomes first public school to win a Division III or IV state bowl game.

2:40 p.m.
ESCALON 30, MADISON 14 (0:43.2 left in fourth quarter):  Madison and Escalon traded turnovers with the Cougars intercepting a Warhawk pass only to fumble the ball back to Madison at the Escalon 27. The Warhawks score three plays later on a 14-yard pass from Chase Knox to Akeem Woodson.

2:32 p.m.
ESCALON 30, MADISON 7 (3:21 left in fourth quarter):  Madison turned the ball over on downs at its own 18 on a dropped pass and Escalon took advantage. The Cougars went the distance in six plays with Franceschetti hiding the ball on his hip and going around left end for the 6-yard quarterback keeper for the score.

ESCALON 23, MADISON 7 (End of third quarter):  Neither team has scored in the third quarter. Madison threatened following a 26-yard run by Jamarie Sanders on a fake punt and a 27-yard pass from Chase Knox to Akeem Woodson. However three passes fell incomplete and Knox fumbled on fourth down with Escalon's Adrian Cortes recovering at the 19. Escalon ended the quarter with the ball at its own 46.

1:15 p.m.
ESCALON 23, MADISON 7 (0:12.0 left in second quarter):  No truth to the myth that cats hate water. The Escalon Cougars are taking full advantage of the wet conditions. Adrian Cortes recovered yet another fumble by the Warhawks at the Madison 41 with under 20 seconds to play in the second quarter. On the next play, Gino Franceschetti threw to a wide open Brandon Shaw, who caught the ball around the 15 and maneuvered around two Warhawk defenders for the touchdown.

1:10 p.m.
ESCALON 16, MADISON 7 (0:49.2 left in second quarter):  Tony Vincent's second fumble recovery of the game set up Escalon's second score. Madison's Knox fumbled the ball on a pass attempt at the Warhawk 32, where Vincent pounced on the ball. Escalon quarterback Gino Franceschetti threw 22 yards to Matt Roberson to put the ball at the 10. From there, Miguel swept around right end for the touchdown.

12:51 p.m.
ESCALON 9, MADISON 7 (7:37 left in second quarter): The rain has let up a bit and as a result the scoring has picked up. Madison took just three plays to answer Escalon's touchdown, driving 64 yards. Chase Knox had a 22-yard pass to Jeremy Hutchinson on second down and then threw 40 yards to Kevon Mitchell for the touchdown.

12:45 p.m.
ESCALON 9, MADISON 0 (8:51 left in second quarter): Escalon and Madison played through a steady downpour in the first quarter. Escalon had a drive end at the Madison 1-yard line, but Warhawk quarterback Chase Knox slipped and fell in the end zone on first down for a safety. Following the free kick, Escalon drove 47 yards and scored on a 6-yard run by Josh Miguel.

10:14 p.m.
PALO ALTO 15, CENTENNIAL 13 (End of Game): Pandemonium! Centennial kicker Ezequiel Rivera has his 42-yard field goal attempt falls short in the end zone with 30.2 seconds left. Palo Alto runs out clock for the win.

10:07 p.m.
PALO ALTO 15, CENTENNIAL 13 (2:33 left in game): Palo Alto is forced to punt after a pass on third down and three goes through the receiver's hands. Bono's punt from the 19 travels 24 and Centennial takes over at the Palo Alto 43 with 2:33 left in the game.

10:00 p.m.
PALO ALTO 15, CENTENNIAL 13 (4:14 left in fourth quarter): Eubanks scores for Centennial 33-yard run to close the gap, but Eubanks was tackled attempting to run in the two-point conversion, leaving the Vikings holding on to the two-point lead.

9:38 p.m.
PALO ALTO 15, CENTENNIAL 7 (1:25 left in third quarter): Palo Alto makes a goal-line stand as Centennial fails to score on four straight plays inside the five-yard line including a run by Eubanks on fourth down that was stopped behind the line of scrimmage.

9:27 p.m.
PALO ALTO 15, CENTENNIAL 7 (8:16 left in third quarter): Romello Goodman gets Centennial on the board with a four-yard touchdown run following Michael Eubanks' 75-yard runs on an option play. The three-play drive started at the Centennial 12-yard line.

9:00 p.m.
PALO ALTO 15, CENTENNIAL 0 (Halftime): Christoph Bono has completed 9 of 16 passes for 180 yards in the first half with two touchdowns. Maurice Williams has three catches for 99 yards including the 80-yard touchdown catch. Barrinton Collins leads Centennial in rushing with 101 yards on 17 carries.

8:42 p.m.
PALO ALTO 15, CENTENNIAL 0 (1:21 left in half): This is officially a wow! Bono completed 80-yard bomb to Maurice Williams after holding Centennial on downs inside the Palo Alto 10. The 13-point swing was complete when Bono threw it as far as he could to the Centennial 40, Williams came back to the ball, ripped the ball away from a defender, then sprinted from the right sideline to the pylon on the opposite side of the field.

After Centennial jumped offside on the extra point, Palo Alto went for two but Bono was sacked.

8:18 p.m.
PALO ALTO 9, CENTENNIAL 0 (6:43 left in half): Bono, the son of former NFL quarterback Steve Bono, is proving he deserves a scholarship offer. He's been brilliant, first evading a strong rush, rolling left and completing a pretty 22-yard completion to Davante Adams to the Centennial 15. On the next play, Bono scrambles right and finds Adams in the back of the end zone. Wow. Great catch and then goes down hard with a likely ankle injury that could keep him out of the game. Check that, we just heard they're taping ankle and he'll be back. Wow, this so far is shocker.

8:05 p.m.
PALO ALTO 2, CENTENNIAL 0 (end of first): Wow, a major victory for Palo Alto holding Centennial scoreless for a quarter. Centennial outgains Palo Alto 85-61 but the Vikings hold on down during a 13-play drive. On a 4th-and-3 play, Collins is dropped for a 1-yard gain on the final play of the first quarter and the Vikings have a huge momentum boost. More surprising than Palo Alto leading is keeping Centennial out of the end zone.

7:45 p.m.
PALO ALTO 2, CENTENNIAL 0 (8:41 left in first): Palo Alto has yet to register a first down but a bad snap over the head of Centennial quarterback Michael Eubank went into the end zone. Eubank recovered in the end zone. Palo Alto received the game's first big break. 

7:15 p.m.
Palo Alto-Centennial impressions: Wow. Centennial has brought in the reinforcements. We count 111 players they've brought to the Home Depot Center, about a 40-minute drive from its campus in Corona (Riverside County). Brookside Christian, which lost the small-school championship to Bishop's, has an ENROLLMENT of 111.

The wet field and condition probably favors Palo Alto, which uses a balanced running game with a short passing attack. The Vikings experience more inclement weather than Centennial, which runs the most dynamic no-huddle, spread offense perhaps in the state. The Huskies average 535 yards per game, almost evenly divided between pass and run.

Palo Alto's strength is on defense - a smart defense that makes quick adjustments. But quick the Vikings will need to be against the fastest paced offense in the state. Check that, Folsom might be on par with Centennial.

Game statistics from Bishop's-Brookside Christian: Alec Fisher ended up with 23 carries, 167 yards and four touchdowns. Bishop's finished with 395 yards to 272 for Brookside Christian, which got 184 yards and two touchdown passes from Rodriguez. Teammate Fullard had seven catches for 86 yards and two TDs.

BISHOP'S 40, BROOKSIDE CHRISTIAN 14 (2:06 left in the game): It's Fisher once more, his fifth touchdown - fourth rushing - on an 8-yard run. Again, a thwarted fourth-down attempt led to a short field, this time a 38-yard drive. Bishop's has had scoring drives of 19, 23 and 38 yards due to foiled fourth-down plays and failing to punt.

6:25 p.m.
Nolan Bieck kicked his third field goal of the game, a 37-yarder with 1:09 remaining in the third quarter, to extend St. Thomas Aquinas' lead to 23-7. Plant on Aquinas 32-yard line to start the fourth quarter.

6:20 p.m.
BISHOP'S 33, BROOKSIDE CHRISTIAN 14 (7:10 left in the fourth): Fisher is at it again, scoring his fourth touchdown, this on a 7-yard run. This one once again resulted from a short field due to once again going for it on fourth down - this time from its own 23. A pass fell incomplete and four plays later, Bishop's is in complete command.

6:10 p.m.
BISHOP'S 26, BROOKSIDE CHRISTIAN 14 (11:31 left in the fourth): Fisher zooms around the right side for a 2-yard touchdown putting Bishop's back in control. Fisher keyed the 68-yard drive with a 36-yard burst.

6:06 p.m.
BISHOP'S 20, BROOKSIDE CHRISTIAN 14 (end of third): Brookside Christian had a couple of big opportunities - recovering an onside kick and an interception by Bruce Taft Jr. - but Bishop's defense held. Bishop's is threatening from the Brookside Christian 9 to start the fourth quarter.

5:45 p.m.
BISHOP'S 20, BROOKSIDE CHRISTIAN 14 (7:39 left in third): Wow, two tremendous catches by Larry Fullard - one on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Tony Rodriguez and the ensuing 2-point conversion. Both were perfectly defended but Fullard went up high and snatched the ball away. What made both grabs so impressive is that the conditions are miserable and wet. A 62-yard run by Shaquille Hill set up the score.

Sophomore running back Frederick Coppet's 93-yard touchdown run with 19 seconds remaining in the first half gave St. Thomas Aquinas a 20-7 lead at halftime. Rashad Greene made an outstanding catch on a 34-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jacob Rudock to give St. Thomas Aquinas a 13-7 lead after Plant had taken a 7-6 lead on an 8-yard touchdown run by James Wilder.

5:25 p.m.
Halftime stats: Total yards: Bishop's 211, Brookside Christian 153. Passing: Bishop's - Moreno 5-9-1-87, BC - Rodriguez 12-18-2-159. Rushing: Bishop's - Fisher 9-59, BS - Hill 2-8. Receiving: BC - Hill 4-64. Brookside Christian has (minus-6) yards rushing.

5:15 p.m.
BISHOP'S 20, BROOKSIDE CHRISTIAN 6 (halftime): A truly questionable decision led to Bishop's final touchdown of the half, a 6-yard pass from Moreno to Fisher with 21.4 seconds left in the half.

Brookside went for a first down on 4th-and-1 on its OWN 19. The pass was dropped and five plays later - after a nice goal line stand by Brookside by the way - Moreno found Fisher all alone to give their team a commanding halftime edge.

4:50 p.m.
BISHOP'S 13, BROOKSIDE 6 (9:19 left in first): Good, looks like we might still have a game. Brookside's Tony Rodriguez completed a 13-yard touchdown in the back of the end zone by Larry Fullard, capping a 92-yard drive.

Rodriguez had completions of 28 and 38 yards to Shaquille Hill and Fullard to set up the score which came on 4th-and-12.

4:41 p.m.
BISHOP'S 13, BROOKSIDE CHRISTIAN 0 (end of first quarter): Two interceptions led directly to two Bishop's touchdowns - the first a 2-yard run by Alec Fisher and the second a 39-yard interception return by Robby Stiefler.

Stiefler actually set up the first score with an interception and Bishop's drove 70 yards in five plays, keyed by a 35-yard pass from Joey Moreno to Dominique Love and a 20-yard run by Joey Moreno.

Brookside Christian actually moved the ball with 74 yards, but the two interceptions killed them.

3:50 p.m.: Welcome California prep sports fans. There are a throng of nine MaxPreps journalists - three writers, two video graphers/hosts and four photographers - along with a couple dozen media folks, 60 or so players and perhaps 400 fans at the sparse, wet and incredibly vacant Home Depot Center for the 2010 CIF Football Bowl Championships.

The weather cool and drizzly and has been since early this morning. By the end of the two-day, five-game event, the field might be a mess. 

We'll be running a live blog with mainly game updates here, but also notes for upcoming games as well as updates from state-title games in Florida, Texas and Pennsylvania.
