They may not be college football's most coveted high school quarterback recruits, but they are the tallest. At least by data on MaxPreps long and extensive rosters. Both stand 6-feet, 7-inches.
Gage Shaffer, Frankfort

, a 210-pounder from
Frankfort (Ridgeley, W. Va.), has already committed to Maryland. The 3-star prospect is the No. 39 pro-style quarterback in the country, according to the
247Sports Composite Rankings, and he committed to the Terrapins in June.
Shaffer led Frankfort (14-1) to the state AA state championship game. He had thrown for 2,434 yards and 24 touchdowns in his first two seasons for Frankfort before this season. He almost matched those figures his senior year, throwing for 2,037 yards and 24 scores.
The other 6-7 signal-calling prospect is
James Sosinski, a rugged 245-pound specimen from powerhouse
Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.). He is ranked the 100th pro-style quarterback in the country
according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings and has already committed to Massachusetts.
Remarkably, Sosinski almost had identical numbers to Shaffer, throwing for 2,483 yards and 24 touchdowns, leading Hamilton to a 12-2 season.
An even higher pro style recruit
Zach Gentry of
Eldorado (Albuquerque, N.M.) is listed at 6-6 on the school's MaxPreps roster. Others list him at 6-7. Either way, Gentry is a big kid and big-time recruit — No. 8 on 247Sports' pro style rankings — who this week is making news because it appears the Texas commit is getting wooed by new Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh.
Gentry, who threw for 3,609 yards in his first two seasons in high school, rushed for 904 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2014.
