It's not often that the regular season ends and De La Salle isn't at the top of these rankings.
The Spartans of the North Coast Section are human after all, and they are second behind the only local team to beat them in three decades.
Saint Francis moved to No. 1 after beating previous No. 1 Serra 44-21 to lock up the West Catholic Athletic League, and the teams could meet in the Central Coast Section Division I finals. Rocklin of the Sac-Joaquin Section inched up to No. 3.

Update: The Lancers won the powerhouse West Catholic Athletic League and left no doubt who the top team in Northern California is as Saint Francis backed its 31-28 win over De La Salle earlier this season that halted the Spartans' 30-year unbeaten streak against NorCal teams.

Luke Dermon who passed for 198 yards and two touchdowns. DLS is the top seed in the North Coast Section D-I playoffs and seeks its 30th consecutive section crown. The losses were to Saint Francis (Mountain View) 31-28 to halt the program's 318-game unbeaten streak to NorCal teams north of Fresno dating back to 1992, and to the top team in Maryland. DLS hasn't lost to a NCS team since 1991, a streak of 256 games.

Update: The Thunder had a bye as the top seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section D-I playoffs. They are 10-0 for the first time since 2009, when Rocklin reached the CIF State D-II finals in 2009. The big victory was the 40-7 effort over Folsom, halting that school's 11-year, 54-game league winning streak. The Sierra Foothill League MVP is Rocklin's all-purpose star

Update: The Padres lost the WCAL championship to rival Saint Francis but were still awarded the No. 2 seed in the Central Coast Section D-I playoffs, opposite of the Lancers. Since 2017, Serra has won two CIF NorCal titles and a CIF State crown under coach Patrick Walsh.

Update: The Bears had an opening-night bye in the Central Section D-I field and take on a team they beat 33-14 last month in Tri-River Athletic Conference action. The loss was to state-ranked Los Alamitos 34-31.

Update: The Grizzlies are the No. 3 seed in the Central Section D-I playoffs. The Loss was to Buchanan 24-17. Central won the 219 CIF State Division I-AA championship.

Update: The Marauders are the No. 2 seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I field, having won nine consecutive games since opening with a blowout loss at Folsom. There could be a rematch in a semifinal. One of the big wins for the Delta League champions was a 28-14 effort over Granite Bay. This is Jesuit's best team in at least 20 years.

Update: The Grizzlies are the No. 2 seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II field behind Central Catholic. One big win was 31-21 over Folsom. Tyler Tremain will be back for the playoffs after missing the last three games. An earlier win was 37-17 over Pittsburg and a 56-7 season-opening effort over Jesuit. Folsom has won eight Section and four CIF State titles since 2010.
