Legacy (North Las Vegas) junior thrower Avione Allgood won the shot put and the discus Saturday at the Las Vegas Track Classic at Del Sol with two of the nation's top early-season throws.
Allgood, who represented the U.S. at the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships in the javelin throw, set meet and stadium records by winning the shot put with a mark of 47 feet, 5 inches. It is the second-best throw in the nation this season, according to athletic.net.
Allgood also captured the discus title with a toss of 131-7, which is No. 1 in the nation thus far, according to athletic.net.
Palo Verde (Las Vegas) freshman Ashlie Blake was second in both events. Her mark of 45 feet in the shot put is No. 7 in the nation, while her throw in the discus of 121-9 ranks behind only Allgood on athletic.net's list of the top outdoor performances.
