Even though the Indianapolis Lutheran Saints have not done well against the Beech Grove Hornets recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Indianapolis Lutheran pulled ahead with a 54-53 photo finish over Beech Grove. Given Indianapolis Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Beech Grove is ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Simeon Mcintosh, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyris Reid, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Indianapolis Lutheran's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Beech Grove, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indianapolis Lutheran will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 973 points over their last 14 contests. As for Beech Grove, they will head out on the road to square off against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
