The college basketball world is caught up in the hype surrounding Duke's current crop of freshmen but it may not be too early to start getting excited about Mike Krzyzewski's next class of stars.
Carey
was named MaxPreps National Junior of the Year last season after
averaging over 25 points and 10 rebounds per game. University won the prestigious City of Palms Classic, Florida's Class 5A state championship and reached the GEICO
Nationals championship game.
The 6-foot-10, 275-pound senior chose Duke over Michigan State, North Carolina and nearby Miami — where his father, Vernon Carey, shined before becoming an NFL
first-round pick.
Carey will be joined by North Carolina star
Wendell Moore Jr. and San Diego point guard
Boogie Ellis in Duke's incoming recruiting class.
