The Indianapolis Washington Continentals pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 74-63 to Lawrence Central. While losing is never fun, Indianapolis Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Lawrence Central is ranked 35th).
Loss or not, Indianapolis Washington got some senior leadership from Malique Starks and Clem Butler. Starks dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten assists, while Butler. almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Butler has scored all season. Dave Leye was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Indianapolis Washington now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Lawrence Central, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-8.
Indianapolis Washington will head out on the road to face off against Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lawrence Central, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Tindley at 7:30 p.m. Lawrence Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully Tindley likes a good challenge.
