MaxPreps Sac-Joaquin Section Top 25 high school football rankings

Only two Sac-Joaquin Section Top 10 football teams lost in Zero Week, and some didn't play.

Previous No. 9 Jesuit (Carmichael) was crushed by NorCal No. 1 De La Salle (Concord) 63-0 at Cal. Del Oro (Loomis) remained steady at No. 3 as it lost to an out-of-state team in Kamehameha of Honolulu, 25-17, in a game to the wire.

Result: Beat Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) 55-10 as Jake Browning passed for 520 yards and seven TDs with no interceptions, hitting Cole Thompson for 190 yards and four TDs.

2. Elk Grove (2) 1-0
Result: Beat Damonte Ranch (Reno) 55-10 behind a dominating run game with Manny Scott-Anderson, Eltoro Allen and QB Tyler Vander Waal and DB Shaunard Harts.

3. Del Oro (Loomis) (3) 0-1
Result: Lost to Honolulu powerhouse Kamehameha (Hawaii) 25-17 in a gritty show despite starting seven sophomores. WR Trey Udoffia impressed against speedy cornerbacks.

4. Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) (4) 1-0
Result: Beat previously ranked Whitney (Rocklin) 44-19 as Ian Book completed 16 of 19 passes for 294 yards and two TDs and Andrew Lackowski rushed for two scores.

5. Grant (Sacramento) (5) 1-0
Result: Beat No. 19 Burbank (Sacramento) 20-0 as the run game set the tone with Deondre' Whittington-Grays and TieNeal Martin and QB Donovan Brown.

6. Franklin (Elk Grove) (7) 1-0
Result: Beat Atwater 29-0 as QBs Lamar Jackson and Jacob Lopez accounted for four scores and the defense posted six sacks.

7. Granite Bay (8) 0-0
Result: Did not play, though it did scrimmage ranked teams in St. Mary's and Jesuit.

Result: Did not play, though it did scrimmage area teams to prepare.

Result: Beat previously ranked Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) 35-10 as Evyn Holtz scored and the defense dominated.

Result: Did not play, though the Dragons impressed in scrimmages at Grant and Davis.

Result: Lost to national powerhouse De La Salle (Concord) 63-0 as everything went wrong for the Marauders in their first-time meeting with the Spartans.

Result: Beat Stagg (Stockton) 34-14 in rushing for 420 yards behind backs Mark Russell, Ronald Walker and Chris Cannady.

14. Inderkum (Sacramento) (16) 1-0
Result: Beat Reno 19-3 as Austin Thurman had TD runs of 52 and 1 yards and Jonathan Henry hit Larry Hardy for a 12-yard score.

15. Buhach Colony (Atwater) 1-0
Result: Beat new-school El Capitan (Merced) 51-0 in coach Kevin Navarra's coaching debut.

Result: Lost to Clovis West (Fresno) 49-39 despite 400 yards passing from Tyrone Williams, though five interceptions hurt.

Result: Lost to Freedom (Oakley) 14-6, with the double-whammy of losing running back Nate Jones to injury.

Result: Beat longtime rival Sonora 28-14 behind 168 rushing yards from Frankie Trent and QB Adam Olsen (two TD passes).

19. Burbank (Sacramento) (19) 0-1
Result: Lost 20-0 to No. 5 Grant in continuation of longtime rivalry as Harrison Anderson moved from RB to QB. Penalties hurt.

20. Central Catholic (Modesto) (22) 0-0
Result: Did not play, though the two-time defending CIF State D-IV champions did scrimmage.

21. Vanden (Fairfield) (24) 0-0
Result: Did not play, but the team did suffer a big loss as coach LeVon Haynes is on leave for alleged misuse of team funds.

22. Napa (25) 1-0
Result: Beat Montgomery (Santa Rosa) 36-7 as QB Kiel Brown scored twice, Mac Neilson rushed for 156 yards and a score as the Indians committed no turnovers.

23. Wood (Vacaville) (NR) 1-0
Result: The Wildcats scored 28 points in the first four minutes then held on for a 63-49 win over Vista del Lago (Folsom). Damon Lewis rushed for 215 yards and four scores.

24. Manteca (NR) 1-0
Result: Beat Wilcox (Santa Clara) 20-14 as Hector Soto rushed for 139 yards and two TDs and QB Dakarai Charles tossed a scoring pass.
