This is one of the most prestigious team awards in all of high school sports and it is an exclusive honor reserved for the top 100 teams nationwide. In order to be eligible, a team must win a state championship and be highly ranked in the
MaxPreps National Rankings. For soccer, only 20 of the country's best are invited and with nearly 34,000 competing varsity teams. This puts the Raiders ahead of 99.9 percent of their opponents!
On Sunday, Nov. 20 head coach Evan Baumgarten and the Ramapo boys soccer team put the final touches on their perfect season. First year starter Conor Young made six saves in a 3-0 shutout win over Toms River South for the
2016 NJSIAA Group 3 state championship.
This Coach Baumgarten's seventh state championship team at Ramapo and first since the undefeated 2012 team (21-0-2). More impressively, this is the first championship team to complete a perfect season without any ties.
At the end of the year the Raiders were ranked
No.1 in North 1 Group 3,
No.3 in the state and
No.24 in the nation.
These incredible season achievements have earned the Ramapo Raiders an invitation to the 12th Annual Tour of Champions.
Please join us as we celebrate with the boys soccer team, coaching staff, students and fans on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. during halftime of the boys basketball game in the gym.
