MaxPreps crowned its first high school basketball national champion in 2009 after Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) capped a 33-0 season by defeating previous No. 1 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) 74-66 in the ESPN Rise National High School Invitational championship game. Since that time, 278 schools in 38 states have etched their place
in history by earning a spot in the final MaxPreps Top 25 rankings. See
the complete list below.
Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) leads the way when it comes to MaxPreps Top 25 finishes with 16 in 18 years. The Eagles won national titles in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024.
The perennial powerhouse program is joined by Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) and Findlay Prep (Henderson. Nev.) as the only teams with 10 or more appearances in the final national rankings.
Texas leads the way with the most different schools represented on the list with 29. Florida is not far behind with 21 and California (20), North Carolina (19), Georgia (14), Michigan (11), New Jersey (11), Ohio (11), Indiana (10) and Pennsylvania (10) are the only other states with double digits.
