Toughest game: There are few easy games when you play in District 17-5A, however Jersey Village proved to be the upstart last year with a 14-3 district finish and its best finish in school history. Cypress Ranch will face the Falcons twice in district play.
Local outlook: The Woodlands was the top team in the state last year and thus the top team in the Houston area. Cypress Ranch could take that title this year, but could get a challenge from the likes of Pearland, Klein Collins and Brazoswood.
Overall outlook: The Mustangs will have a tough time finishing the season undefeated, simply due to the competitive balance and amount of talent in the Houston area. The Texas Class 5A state tournament also ranks as arguably the toughest baseball playoff tournament in the nation. However, winning a second state title in three years could put Cypress Ranch at the top of the national rankings.
