In a weekend of landslide victories, Longview's 49-3 demolition of Rockwall in a District 11-6A opener created the biggest stir.
Longview (5-0), the defending Class 6A-2 state champion, moved up one rung to No. 5 in this week's MaxPreps Texas Top 25 high school football rankings after the impressive performance before the home fans at Lobo Stadium. Quarterback Haynes King, a Texas A&M pledge, ran for five touchdowns and threw for another to lead the Lobos.
Rockwall (3-2), averaging 53 points per game and ranked No. 18 coming into the District 11-6A opener, was without injured wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, an Ohio State pledge, for the final three quarters.
