The Grace Christian Academy Crusaders had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Illinois Lutheran by a score of 68-57 on Friday. The victory was just what Grace Christian Academy needed coming off of a 80-60 loss in their prior match.
Grace Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Reynolds out in front who scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Marquardt, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Illinois Lutheran lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sam Adeniran. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with two blocks. Jaden Walls was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Grace Christian Academy's win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-13. As for Illinois Lutheran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cissna Park at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. As for Illinois Lutheran, they will head out on the road to face off against Grant Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Grant Park is ranked 671st, while Illinois Lutheran is ranked 694th).
