With "only essential personnel" in attendance, the Missouri State High School Activities Association has powered through at least two brackets — one boys and one girls — as it battles through the coronavirus scare.
The Walnut Grove girls and Dora boys were crowned Class 1 champions Friday night. Other classes scheduled to crown champions on Saturday are 1 and 2. Class 4-5 will plan to complete quarterfinals Saturday with champions crowned March 19-21.
Following semifinal wins this week, East Buchanan and Tipton (Class 2) and Licking and Stafford (Class 3) will meet in girls' finals on Saturday. Likewise Skyline and Milan (Class 2) and Charleston and Cardinal Ritter (Class 3) will square off for boys' titles on Saturday.
The association said on its website "only essential personnel will be allowed in the arena for all quarterfinal games on Saturday. Each participating school will be responsible for designating who is considered essential personnel." [
