High school football rankings: Christian Brothers finishes No. 1 in final Missouri MaxPreps Top 25

Jeremiyah Love's big game helps Cadets knock off Lee's Summit North in Class 6 championship game.

The high school football season in Missouri came to a close over the weekend. Christian Brothers (St. Louis) was among the winners, beating Lee's Summit North (Lee's Summit) in the Class 6 state championship game at Faurot Field in Columbia. That victory helped propel the Cadets to the No. 1 spot in the final state MaxPreps Top 25.

Following the lead of MaxPreps Missouri High School Football Player of the Year Jeremiyah Love, who rushed for a season-high 211 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries, Christian Brothers upended Lee's Summit North 35-28 in overtime in the state title contest to claim its second straight state championship and the fifth title in nine seasons for the Cadets.

Love further deflated the Bronco defense by reeling in three passes for 106 yards and two more scores.

Fredrick Moore led Cardinal Ritter College Prep (St. Louis) to a 46-7 win Class 3 state championship win and the No. 6 ranking by hauling in eight passes for 157 yards and two scores.

Adam Shipley carried 24 times for 245 yards and three scores for No. 3 Howell (St. Charles, Mo.) in a 49-21 triumph over Fort Osage (Independence) to claim its first Class 5 state football title.

Other Missouri state champions to earn a spot in the rankings include No. 5 St. Mary's (St. Louis), No. 8 Blair Oaks (Jefferson City) and No. 23 East Buchanan (Gower). St. Mary's and East Buchanan defended state titles from a year ago.
