Video: High school football in the spring?Steve Montoya discusses the possibility on CBS Sports HQ.The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association announced Tuesday that the high school sports fall season won't get underway until at least Sept. 5 due to coronavirus concerns.
Under the original calendar, football practices were scheduled to begin Aug. 19. Now those will be pushed back over two weeks to Sept. 5 with other fall sports beginning Sept. 7.
Under the revised timeline, football games could be played as early as Sept. 18.
The WIAA Executive Board plans to continue working with staff, member schools and state agencies to monitor the impact of COVID-19. It will release another statement regarding fall sports on July 22.
