Senior guard Dantley Walker exploded for 62 points as
Lincoln County (Panaca, Nev.) outlasted Needles (Calif.), 100-97, in overtime.
The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder, who scored 14 points in the overtime, also had 14 assists and 11 rebounds. He finished with 10 3-pointers.
His effort is second only to the Nevada state record of 70 points by Jim Summers of Douglas (Nev.) in 1952, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Last year Walker also drilled 10 3-pointers and totaled 53 points against Needles.
Walker is named in honor of former NBA star Adrian Dantley, who was his father, Greg's, favorite player. He is averaging 29.8 points and 9.0 assists this year and is on target to become the state's career scoring leader after being named Nevada's Class 2A Player of the Year as a junior. He's already the state's career leader in assists.
