As the big-name leagues go, so go the rankings. We saw that with Mission League teams moving all over the place, and with Trinity League teams not falling after losses to higher-ranked squads.
But let's not forget about teams like Camarillo, which entered the rankings. The Scorpions are the only team from the Southern Section's Northern Division in the rankings, as they knocked out St. Bonaventure.
Expect more movement in the coming weeks thanks to those leagues.

The Huskies won 47-14 over King (Riverside), with
JJ Taylor running eight times for 120 yards and a pair of scores. They go to Roosevelt (Eastvale) on Friday.

Classification: Southern Section, Trinity League, Pac-5 Division
Rankings: 2 state, 7 national, 4 Xcellent 25
The
Braves rolled 62-14 at Santa Margarita to open the Trinity League season, trailing 14-7 after one quarter and then putting the game away emphatically.
Quentin Davis was 14-for-18 with four touchdowns. They go to Mater Dei Friday for a huge contest.
3. (3) Mater Dei (Santa Ana), 6-0 (1-0 Trinity)Classification: Southern Section, Trinity League, Pac-5 Division
Rankings: 3 state, 8 national, 19 Xcellent 25
The Monarchs moved up again in the Xcellent 25 after pulling away in the second half of a 49-35 victory over Orange Lutheran. It was tied in the fourth quarter at one point. The Monarchs got three touchdowns from
Brandon LaMarche and 186 rushing yards. They host St. John Bosco on Friday.
4. (4) Long Beach Poly, 5-1 (3-0 Moore)Classification: Southern Section, Moore League, Pac-5 Division
Rankings: 5 state, 34 national
The Jackrabbits had no trouble in a 48-6 victory over Compton. A huge test comes Friday with a road game at NorCal power De La Salle (Concord).
5. (7) Serra (Gardena), 5-1 (3-0 Mission)Classification: Southern Section, Mission League, Pac-5 Division
Rankings: 6 state, 36 national
The Cavaliers are in the driver's seat for the league title after a 41-38 win over Bishop Amat.
Khalil Tate passed for two scores and ran for three more. They host Crespi on Friday.
6. (6) Mission Viejo, 7-0 (1-0 South Coast)Classification: Southern Section, South Coast League, West Valley Division
Rankings: 7 state, 44 national
The
Diablos ran it all over Dana Hills, 77-0, with 56 of the points coming before halftime. Tesoro comes to town Friday for a huge league contest.
7. (5) Bishop Amat (La Puente), 5-2 (2-1 Mission)Classification: Southern Section, Mission League, Pac-5 Division
Rankings: 8 state, 49 national
The Lancers lost 41-38 to Serra and now need some help if they want to win a Mission League title. They host Alemany on Friday.
Torreahno Sweet was a workhorse with 41 carries for 170 yards and three touchdowns.

The
Lancers move up despite losing 49-35 to Mater Dei, considering they were tied in the fourth quarter and have also lost to De La Salle and Centennial.
Austin Liles caught six passes for 177 yards and two scores in the loss. They go to Servite on Friday.

Rankings: 24 state, 187 national
The Gauchos rolled 73-6 over George Washington Prep and shouldn't see too many problems in league play. They go to Gardena High on Friday.
10. (11) Oaks Christian (Westlake Village), 7-0Classification: Southern Section, Marmonte League, Pac-5 Division
Rankings: 15 state, 121 national
The Lions haven't had a close game in their last five, as they romped 48-7 over Thousand Oaks behind
Gil'scott Jackson ii - 20 carries, 285 yards, four touchdowns. After a bye they host St. Bonaventure on Oct. 23 to start Marmonte League play.
11. (12) Vista Murrieta (Murrieta), 5-1 (1-0 Southwestern)Classification: Southern Section, Southwestern League, West Valley Division
Rankings: 29 state, 215 national
The Broncos started their Southwestern League schedule with a 27-17 win over Great Oak, using a 13-point third quarter to gain enough distance. They host Murrieta Valley on Friday.

Rankings: 28 state, 212 national
The Cougars took a 42-28 win over Roosevelt (Eastvale), with
Victor Viramontes finishing 14-for-17 with 277 yards and three touchdowns. They host Corona High on Friday.

Rankings: 38

The Warriors won 49-28 over Paraclete (Lancaster) using 22 runs for 174 yards and three scores from
Chase Jasmin. Their next game is Friday at Newbury Park.

Rankings: 25 state, 191 national
The Eagles can't be faulted for losing 62-14 to St. John Bosco, nobody else has come close to beating the Braves.
Dylan Crawford caught eight passes for 118 yards and one touchdown. They go to JSerra Catholic on Friday.
15. (17) Rancho Cucamonga, 5-1 (1-0 Baseline)Classification: Southern Section, Baseline League, West Valley Division
Rankings: 39 state, 314 national
The
Cougars won 49-28 over Damien in a league opener. They're looking to keep the momentum going with a Thursday home game against Chino Hills.
16. (18) Mission Hills (San Marcos), 6-0Classification: San Diego Section, Avocado East League, Division I (can change)
Rankings: 35 state, 256 national
Mission Hills has maintained its dominance over the San Diego Section with a 45-0 beatdown of Oceanside.
Nehemiah McFarlin scored four touchdowns in the win. Next up is a Friday game at Rancho Buena Vista.

Rankings: 13 state, 101 national
The
Highlanders continue to impress after a season-opening loss. They won 41-6 over Mount Miguel thanks to 10 rushes, 120 yards and five touchdowns from
Nathen Stinson. They go to Valhalla on Friday.
18. (20) Tesoro (Rancho Santa Margarita), 5-1 (1-0 South Coast)Classification: Southern Section, South Coast League, West Valley Division
Rankings: 16 state, 128 national
The Titans prevailed 31-28 over El Toro in a league opener behind a titanic comeback. They were down 21-0 at halftime. Friday presents a huge test at Mission Viejo.

Stallions go to El Toro on Friday. They had a bye last week.

The Cubs won 35-6 at Crespi, putting in four touchdowns in the first quarter and then cruising. They will take the week off and then head to Alemany.

The
Highlanders opened league play with a 35-7 win over Sonora in a crosstown showdown. The defense grabbed three interceptions. Next up is a Friday home game versus Buena Park.

The Scorpions got over the hump and into the rankings with a big 49-20 win over St. Bonaventure.
Jake Constantine completed 15 passes and four went for touchdowns. Their next game is Friday at Calabasas, which should be a good one.

Wildcats ran to a 45-12 victory over A.B. Miller, with

The Eagles keep yo-yoing and are back in. They used a long late-game drive to upend Alemany, 43-40.
Michael Wilson caught five passes for 125 yards and a score.
Tj Pledger scored the winning touchdown with eight seconds left.

Rankings: 27 state, 208 national
The Warriors fall hard after their last-minute loss to Chaminade. Why? Their schedule up until then was weak, so staying undefeated was the only way to stay high. They look to climb back up with a road game at Bishop Amat.
