Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Cary-Grove's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Cary-Grove walked away with it. Everything went their way against the St. Patrick Shamrocks on Monday as they made off with a 9-2 victory. Considering the Trojans have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Cary-Grove is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for St. Patrick, they moved to 23-16 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Cary-Grove will square off against Benet Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Redwings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. St. Patrick does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
