The high school football season in Oklahoma came to a close over the weekend.
Bixby was among the winners, beating
Owasso in the Class 6A-I state championship game. That victory helped propel the Spartans to the No. 1 ranking in the final state MaxPreps Top 25.
Bixby (12-1) won its fifth consecutive state championship, beating No. 15 Owasso 69-6. Senior quarterback
Connor Kirby threw for four touchdowns and ran for two more in the title game. Over the last five years the Spartans have gone 61-2.
Coming in at No. 2 is
Carl Albert (Midwest City), which finished 12-2 and beat
McAlester 49-7 for the program's sixth state title in the last seven years.
Stillwater won its first state championship since 1967 and finished No. 3. The Pioneers (14-0) wrapped up an undefeated season with a 26-21 win over No. 11
Choctaw in the 6A-II state title game. Senior quarterback
Gage Gundy paced Stillwater all season by throwing for 40 touchdowns with just one interception.
