Kansas' Centralia/Wetmore looking for more in 2010

Although
Smith Center
won 79 football games in succession and five straight Class 2-1A Kansas state football championships entering last season's title game against
Centralia/Wetmore (Centralia)
, Panther wide receiver Michael Glatczak wasn't surprised when he and his teammates made history by stopping the Redmen 20-12 in overtime.
In fact, he expected it.
"I knew they had won 79 straight, but we knew it was going to end right there," Glatczak told the
Hays Daily News.
The Panthers begin the 2010 season perched atop the Kansas Class 2-1A preseason rankings and Glatczak is considered to be one of the best, if not the best, offensive weapons in Kansas' smaller classifications. Defending champion
Collegiate (Wichita)
sits atop the Class 3A polls, while
B & B (Baileyville)
is considered to be the top 8-Man squad in the Sunflower state.
Joining Glatczak as a favorite to win the Kansas small school defensive player of the year award is
Ell-Saline (Brookville)
defensive back Tate Omli.
Below is a look at the 2010-preseason football rankings and the preseason small school all-state football team:
