An American media institution will cross paths with a high school coaching legend Sunday on CBS.
Steve Kroft of 60 Minutes profiles Bob Hurley of No. 1-ranked
St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.) for a story to be broadcast March 27 at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
Hurley's Friars wrapped up an undefeated season and likely a consensus national title Monday by beating Plainfield in New Jersey's Tournament of Champions final. He notched his 1,000th career victory earlier this season and was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame last summer.
Kroft details Hurley's demanding style and incredible success in sending his players to the next level – over 150 former Friars have earned Division I scholarships.
"He pretty much puts the fear in your heart," 6-foot-8 junior Kyle Anderson told Kroft. "But one thing that makes me pretty happy is when we see Mrs. Hurley come in…you realize…okay, practice is coming to an end, she's coming to save us."
St. Anthony's last national title came in 2008. Five players from that team were on the rosters of college programs that qualified for this season's NCAA Tournament.
