Fulton (Knoxville, Tenn.), was shot to death on Thursday night.
Dobson, a talented football player at the Tennessee powerhouse, died shielding three others from gunfire,
according to WBIR.
Citing information from the Knoxville police department, WBIR reported that Dobson was with a group of people in Knoxville's Lonsdale neighborhood. Several men showed up and began to fire at the group; Dobson jumped in front of three girls to protect them from gunfire.
The shooting appears to have been connected to two other shootings that took place last night.
Fulton coach Rob White announced on Twitter that there would be a team meeting for players that wanted to attend. The school, which was closed today, opened its doors this morning for grief support.
Dobson had displayed tremendous promise on the gridiron. A 5-foot-10, 205-pound linebacker, he recorded 32 tackles and a sack, helping Fulton to a 10-2 record this season.
