Though
De La Salle (Concord, Calif.)
didn't put up more than 14 points in any quarter, the team still managed to
crush
Bellarmine (San Jose, Calif.)
41-7 on Saturday.
The Spartans were up 28-7 at the half after taking the lead on in the first
quarter.
De La Salle expanded its lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. DLS
scored once in the quarter on.
The Concord school's best player in the game was Tiapepe Vitale.
The senior running back
ran for three touchdowns.
The victory will ease some of the sting of the Spartans's close 26-23 to
the Bells last season. Bellarmine's lone touchdown came on a 45-yard pass in
the second quarter.
Bellarmine (0-1) will play a non-conference game against San Leandro next week,
while De La Salle (1-0) will take on Mullen in a non-conference game.
