Video: Patrick Mahomes high school basketball highlights
Chiefs signal caller also showed serious promise on the hardwood. As football fans and expert alike continue to gush over the vast talents of Chiefs second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes, some NBA general managers might be wondering what might have been.
Perhaps the 6-foot-3, 230-pound 23-year-old might have been the next Marcus Smart or Tyreke Evans. Just watch his highlight tape above.
Then again, he might have been the next Chris Archer on a MLB mound.
Mahomes, the

Whitehouse (Texas), made the right decision of course. He's the early top contender for NFL MVP while putting up record early-season numbers.
But judging from the videos we have of Mahomes on the hardwood, his numbers could have been points per game instead of total yards per contest.
He averaged more than 19 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for the Wildcats (28-7) as a senior, including a career-high 49 and 37 during a regional game. He could have averaged well into the 20s had he been more selfish, said the school's athletic director at the time, Richard Peacock.
"It's his third sport, but if he focused on it, there's no doubt he could be a Division I basketball player," Peacock told MaxPreps in 2013.
Said his Whitehouse baseball coach Derrick Jenkins: "He's a once-in-a-lifetime talent. He's a once-in-a-lifetime kid."
