Nebraska's Top 10 offensive high school football performances

Wausa's Ethan Baue is one of the many Nebraska prep football players that put up some stunning numbers on the football field through the first three weeks of the season. Not only did the senior account for 472 all-purpose yards in last weekend's 72-30 win over St. Mary's, Baue had a hand in nine touchdowns on offense, defense and special teams.

Baue ran for five scores and returned an interception 55-yards for a score. Throw in a 51-yard fumble return for a touchdown, a 70-yard kickoff scamper for a score and a 12-yard scoring strike to Jaxon Claussen, to open the game's scoring, and well, its hard to imagine anyone topping his outing against the Cardinals. Oh yeah, did we mention he ran the ball for 318 yards on 11 carries?

Bloomfield's Logan Johnson sits in the runner-up position after scoring eight times against St. Mary's in a 56-26 win Sept. 6. The senior fullback carried the ball 35 times for 239 yards and seven touchdowns and returned an interception 41 yards for a score.

Jakson Keaschall of Pleasanton sits third after throwing for 424 yards and four touchdowns in a 54-42 win over Kenesaw, while Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur Northeast's Dylan Beutler caught six aerials for 252 yards and four scores in a 38-20 triumph over Hartington Cedar Catholic to come in at No. 4.

Caden Egr of Yutan rounds out the Top 5 after carrying the ball 37 times for 338 yards and three touchdowns in a 36-0 blanking of Malcolm last weekend. Brody Nelson of Beatrice did not make the cut for a single game output. But it should be noted that the junior running back has returned a kickoff for a score in all three Orangemen contests in 2019.

Classes B, C2, D1, D2 and D6 are all represented in this week's Top 10. But plenty of Class A and Class C1 athletes performed at a high level as well. Bellevue West's Nate Glantz passed for 309 yards and three touchdowns on 16 of 26 passing in a 63-6 win over Lincoln High to lead Class A, while Class C1 was led by Ogallala's Clayton Murphy, who was good on 17 of 25 passes for 303 yards and a trio of scores in a triumph over Holdrege.

1. Ethan Baue, Wausa, 5-10 Sr. — RB
Scored on runs of 51, 38, 79, 44 and 51 yards, returned an interception 55 yards for a score, a fumble 51 yards for a score and a kickoff 70 yards to pay dirt. Baue also opened the scoring in the 72-30 win over O'Neill St. Mary's Sept. 14 with a 12-yard scoring strike to Jaxon Claussen.

2. Logan Johnson, Bloomfield, 5-10 Sr. — FB
Scored on runs of 11, 1, 11, 3, 2, 11 and 54 yards and returned an interception 41 yards for another score in a 56-26 win over O'Neill St. Mary's, Sept. 6.

Completed 21 of 27 passes for 424 yards and four touchdowns in a 54-42 win over Kenesaw, Sept. 13.

4. Dylan Beutler, Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur Northeast (Bancroft), 6-5 Jr. – WR
Six catches for 252 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-20 win over Hartington Cedar Catholic, Aug. 30.

Eight catches for 257 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-28 win over Omaha Gross Catholic, Sept. 6.

7. Triston Nicks, Wilcox-Hildreth (Wilcox), 5-8 Jr. – RB
22 carries for 351 yards and eight touchdowns in a 70-31 win over Deshler, Sept. 5.

8. Quinston Larsen, Heartland Lutheran (Grand Island), 6-0 Jr. – RB
17 catches for 218 yards and three touchdowns in a 66-63 win over Spalding Academy, Sept. 6.

9. Justus Bader, Heartland Lutheran, 6-3 Sr. – QB
Completed 26 of 44 passes for 369 yards and three touchdowns in a 66-63 win over Spalding Academy, Sept. 6.

10. Luke Rocheford, Howells-Dodge (Howells), 5-10 Sr. – RB
Scored on a 5-yard run, a 25-yard reception and kickoff returns of 67 and 63 yards in a 40-6 win over Guardian Angels Cedar Catholic, Sept. 6.
