High school football's longest win streak came to an end Monday night in New York when
Garden City fell 21-14 to
Massapequa, snapping a 68-game run of success dating back to 2019.
The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but bad weather forced the rare Monday night meeting. With the game tied in the fourth quarter a
Ryan Chabus interception set up a late 29-yard scoring pass from
Luke Garguilo to
Dylan Milio to give Massapequa the victory. It was the first loss for Garden City since Nov. 30, 2019.
Also losing over the weekend was
Sheridan (Wyo.), which had the second-longest win streak at 59 games. The Broncs saw their 59-game streak end as
Natrona County (Casper) came away with a 38-0 win.

Carl Albert (Midwest City, Okla.) now owns high school football's longest win streak at 58 games. The Titans escaped with a 17-16 victory over
Guthrie to tie the state record held by
Bixby.
With a win Friday over
Noble, Carl Albert can break Bixby's Oklahoma record.
De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) holds the longest win streak in the sport's history at 151 games, a 12-year run that eventually produced a movie on the legendary program. The streak came to an end Sept. 4, 2004 when
Bellevue (Wash.) upended De La Salle 39-20.
Independence (Charlotte, N.C.) is home to the second-longest streak with 109 straight from 2000-07 while Sims (Union, S.C.) had a 92-game win streak from 1945-54.
