The boys basketball season wrapped up in Texas on Saturday as six teams won UIL state titles. There were some great individual performances on championship day. MaxPreps breaks down the top 15 scorers from the six classes.
Chris Mullins, Jr., Mansfield Timberview (Arlington), 36 pointsMullins tallied 24 of his tournament-high 36 points in the second half to help Timberview win the Class 5A state title. The sharpshooter was 13-of-20 from the field. The shooting guard is one of the best players in the state for the Class of 2018.
Chris Rossow, Sr., Brazosport (Freeport), 35The point guard had a banner day in his final high school game by scoring 35 points. However, Brazosport came up short, losing the Class 4A title game to Silsbee, 89-83.
Jordyn Adams, So., Silsbee, 26The Baylor verbal commit scored a team-high 26 points to help Silsbee win the Class 4A title, its first in school history. Adams also added nine rebounds and was named the championship game MVP.
Blake Hoepfner, Sr., Muenster, 21Hoepfner averaged 13.6 points per game coming into the state championship and registered a game-high 21 as Muenster beat Clarendon 73-45 for the Class 2A title. He added six rebounds in the game.
Trajan Wesley, Jr., Cypress Falls (Houston, Texas), 20Wesley was 14-of-17 from the free throw line and scored 15 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter to help Cypress Falls beat Wagner (San Antonio) in the Class 6A title game, 63-57.
Jabari Rice, Fort Bend Marshall (Missouri City), 20Rice scored a team-high 20 points, but Marshall ended up falling 74-66 to Timberview in Class 5A.
Hunter Quick, Jr., Brazosport (Freeport), 19The 6-foot-8 power forward/center muscled his way for 19 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Brazosport lost to Silsbee in the 4A title game.
John Weger, Jr., Muenster, 19Weger was the second leader in his team's state championship game victory. The junior averaged 13.9 points per game this year, but came up big at state for the top-ranked team.
Sterling White, Sr., Happy, 18White registered a double-double (18 points, 12 rebounds) in the Class 1A title game, but Happy lost 46-43 to Lipan.
Tristan Clark, Sr., Wagner (San Antonio), 18Clark, a Baylor signee, came through with 18 points and 10 boards as his team lost in the 6A title game. The power forward averaged 17.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game this year.
Patrick Terry, Sr., Madison (Dallas), 18Terry hit his season average of 17.5 points per game by scoring 18 points in his team's 42-36 victory over Block in the Class 3A championship game. Terry also had 10 rebounds.
Nigel Hawkins, Jr., Cypress Falls (Houston), 18Hawkins was the second leading scorer in the championship game as Cypress Falls took home the trophy. Hawkins was named the game's MVP.
Colt Wood, Jr., Clarendon, 18Wood scored a team-high 18 points as Clarendon was downed by Muenster in the Class 2A title game. He was 5-of-6 from 3-point range in the opening half.
Ty Bryant, Jr., Lipan, 17Bryant tallied the first nine points for his team out of halftime and finished with 17 as Lipan beat Happy for the Class 1A state title. He was named the game MVP and added seven rebounds.
Tajzmel Sherman, Sr., Fort Bend Marshall (Missouri City), 17Sherman finished the state title game with 17 points and nine rebounds in an eight-point loss by Marshall.
